Silver Star Shines in Vernon Winter Carnival Parade

The Silver Star events team wore proud smiles yesterday after placing 3rd in their division with their ‘Sporting with Carnival” inspired float in the Vernon Winter Carnival Parade. It was a “great opportunity to showcase some of the many outdoor activities ready to enjoy up on the mountain” Commented Kat Bensler, Events Supervisor at the resort.

Thousands of spectators lined 27th Street in Vernon to enjoy the parade, and with well over 100 entries including floats, bands, vintage cars and more it was event not to be missed. “There was a great turn out downtown, the sun finally shone and it was fun day for all” Kat continued.  

The Vernon Winter Carnival hosts an array of fun activities and events including snow sculpture carving at Silver Star Mountain Resort on Sunday Feb 5th.

Silver Star Mountain Resort plays a large role in the Vernon community. The Silver Star team have raised more than $50,000 for the Cancer council in the relay for life and contributed more than $12,000 to the annual Salvation Army Food Drive not the mention the array of other programs they are involved in.

“It’s a tribute to our staff and our workplace” comments Michael Sherwood, General Manager of Silver Star Mountain Resort. “So many of our staff and their families live in the Vernon community and are passionate about contributing in any way they can. It’s important that we support the community that supports us” he continued.
