Ski Dazzle Retail Shop Features Bootfitting

The human foot is a remarkable piece of machinery. It supports our entire body weight, gives us mobility, and houses a vast network of nerves that together give us balance and coordination, for most of us anyway. Counting the lower leg bones, the tibia and fibula, over 25 percent of the bones in the body are below the knee. Why then is it that we wish to clamp our feet in a hunk of molded plastic, strap two giant levers to it (or one if you snowboard) and hurl ourselves down a snowy slope at unspeakable speeds? It’s certainly not the way nature intended the foot to be used.

Many people think that ski and snowboard boots are inherently uncomfortable. Nothing could be further from the truth. Boots can be made to fit the shape of your foot, giving you increased blood flow and a relaxed muscular condition. A good part of bootfitting is not changing the shape of the boot, but instead positioning your foot in a neutral, natural position. Your boot may fit the outside of your foot, but the bottom is the crucial part. The best way to accomplish this is a custom molded footbed.

Ski Dazzle Retail has professional bootfitters on staff that can cast your foot in the proper position in its natural state, helping to support the arch and tendons. The bottom of your foot is the platform that delivers the power and control to your boot and therefore to your ski or snowboard. Buying boots without footbeds is just like buying a Ferrari with cheap tires.

If you’re unhappy with the fit of your boots, drop in to Ski Dazzle and our experienced bootfitters can analyze your feet, check your boots for problems and recommend solutions. Remember, Ski Dazzle is located right on the snow so you can get your footbeds molded, and then know how well they are working for you. If you need slight adjustments you are just steps away from comfort!
